Born in southern California in May of 1999 at a party called Utopia, Initially introduced into music for all the wrong reasons Extract turned it around upon getting put on his first set of decks by none other than Co-founder of Sickbay Recordings, Critical, Ever since that day he was hooked, within a month he had purchased his own mixing tools and began buying vinyl in mass quantities.  Soon thereafter he was playing day and night battling thru noise restrictions, upset roommates, and a fearful enemy the United States Government. However, all these obstacles had little to do with Extract morphing into a Junglist Dj of his own. Extract began to play at house parties and minimal social gatherings where people praised his track selection,  mixing style,  and Dj skills.  But this would not do it for him he needed more he needed to be one of those Djs playing out to the thousands to be heard and to be complete.

So began his journey into mass producing tapes, and cds, handing them out when and wherever possible only to soon find out exactly what it takes to be "that" DJ...... After months and months of no replies or responses, Extract began to doubt his place in the drum and bass world and began to play less and less and buy less and less vinyl, until finally Extract moved away from California Back to Omaha Nebraska Where eventually he ended up selling all of his gear tables, mixer, and all......

A year and a half later Extract was blessed with his first child, Taylor, a healthy baby girl, and thru all it all he somehow found the motivation to once again get back into jungle music. Although he did not start out DJing right away he started co-production works with Critical online.  DNA was the first track finished under the the Sickbay pseudonym, By late March Extract and Critical had made a few more tunes and Extract decided it was time to get some turntables again, So with cash in hand he went to the local music shop and purchase another DJ setup.

By April Extract had met up with Label cohort Kaoss and began to play at weekly events at various venues including but not restricted to The Getaway lounge, Club Roxbury, The Bricktop....

In August of 2002 Vertigo was set as a permanent weekly event at Club Roxbury, Hosted by Sickbay recordings & Plan 9 and is still going strong, and the rest they say is history.......
