BIO
Static is a newcomer to the Omaha drum n bass
scene. In the Spring of ‘99 he was first introduced to jungle at a local party
where a set thrown down by none other than DJ Kaoss intrigued him. Soon
thereafter he was addicted to the sounds of drum n bass and he couldn’t get
enough. In 2000, he began learning the basics of beat matching and mixing on his
friend’s decks with house and techno records, but found these styles of music to
be unfulfilling. In January of 2001 he finally bought his own set of decks and
started to fill the crates with a wide variety of drum n bass records. Mixing
constantly, Static has grown to become one of Omaha’s top drum n bass DJ’s along
side DJ’s Kaoss, Extract, and Tralfaz. He has played at several parties and
weekly club events in Omaha, as well as various parties in Lincoln and is
constantly building on his mixing skills. He has an upfront track selection,
with some tracks months before they are even released. He recorded his
first mix cd in may of 2001, and a new mix is usually released every few months.
Even before he started DJ-ing, Static was working on the production side of drum
n bass with several tracks in the works and 5 tracks finished. In the summer of
2002, Static and DJ Extract started production together, and there are hopes of
other artist collaborations to come in the future with the likes of Kaoss,
Critical, and others.
Currently, Static is working on making a name for himself in the Midwest by
playing out at parties and clubs whenever possible.
