the most memorable set of the night at every
event he's played.
Solo, Originally known as "C-Low", began listening
to Jungle in 1996.
Solo :
"I was living in Japan in '96 when I heard my first jungle
track - which was "Original Nuttah"- and I was
instantly hooked. It was such an
original and fresh sound. From there, I continued
to explore accelerated
breakbeats through all their many mutations and
transformations (Intelligent, Ragga,
Jump-Up, Jazz Step, Tech Step, Hard Step, Dark
Step, Etc..).
I mixed compact discs on two discmans and a radio
shack mixer back then.
That's all I could afford. I moved to California
in 1997 and was introduced
to the rave scene in San Diego at a party called
"For the Love of Music".
This was the first time I heard Jungle mixed
live at a party and
it was an incredible experience. From then on,
it has been my mission in
life to create and perform accelerated breakbeats
AKA "jungle". Everything in life
has become secondary to the music.I have been
mixing vinyl
since '98 and have since built a studio for producing
/ mixing / mastering /
graphic designing / publishing / and broadcasting
this music which has become
known universally as "drum and bass".
I have been playing musical instruments for 18
years and am using
experiences with many different genres of music
to explore new doors for drum and bass.
I have made dozens of tracks on my PC but have
recently started work on tracks
with original bass guitar and keyboard sounds.
As a lifelong wire
technician, I have developed some bass guitar
filters that are sure to introduce
new forms of original bass."
Solo is currently working under the production
name Critical on a drum and bass label called
Sickbay Recordings along
side dj/producer Extract.
Solo can also be heard frequently on Low
Frequency Internet Radio.
